Increase the cooling capacity of profiled heat sinks using specific manufacturing technologies
The available installation space is often too limited for passive cooling. Or the high heat development cannot be dissipated quickly enough to the ambient air by natural convection. In such cases, these performance-enhancing technologies ensure the survival of your electronic components:
Extrusion heat sink + fan

Active ventilation with the aid of a fan gives natural convection a significant boost. The fan quickly transports the power loss away from the aluminium heat sink and thus away from the component and out of the housing. In addition to our own brands EKL and Alpenföhn, we use fans from the leading brands ebm papst, SANYO DENKI, ADDA and others. These axial fans are characterised by low noise levels, high energy efficiency and high performance. Their considerable volume flow makes them ideal for industrial applications and the cooling of electronic components.
Extrusion heat sink + heat pipe

The heat pipe enables rapid heat transfer, which is particularly advantageous for high-performance components. The system operates passively, without moving parts or power requirements, which means high reliability and low maintenance. The compact design in combination with a profile heat sink allows flexible application in various devices. Heatpipes are the first choice, especially in confined installation situations that require heat transport, e.g. to a profile heat sink mounted outside the housing.
Extrusion heat sink + vapour chamber

The vapour chamber ensures a more even distribution of heat over the entire extruded heat sink, resulting in more efficient heat dissipation. The larger contact surface of the vapour chamber distributes the heat to all cooling fins and thus significantly increases the cooling capacity. If the application also requires position-independent operation, the Vapour Chamber can make particularly good use of its advantages. Its cooling performance remains unaffected by horizontal, vertical or inclined positions and is therefore always excellent.
Aluminium profile heat sinks in application
Aluminium profile heat sinks are widely used in electronics because they have high thermal conductivity and can be produced economically.
- Aluminium as a material is light and inexpensive compared to other thermally conductive materials such as copper.
- The corrosion resistance of aluminium, which is achieved by the formation of a protective oxide layer, also contributes to the longevity and reliability of aluminium heat sinks.
- The shaping dies through which the aluminium is pressed into a strand can have profile diameters ranging from a few millimetres to dozens of centimetres.
- Aluminium strand heat sinks can therefore be found in the smallest electronic devices and circuit boards as well as on large LED lights or on metre-long, heat-radiating components.
